Copper alloy pin probably from a Roman bow brooch of 1st or 2nd century AD date The pin is incomplete and is slightly distorted (with a length of 57.5mm and a weight of 3.4g). The pin was sprung and at the break the spring is rectangular-sectioned (2.3mm wide and 0.8mm thick) and is coiled from the spring. The pin shaft is circular sectioned, with a maximum diameter beneath the spring (of 3.1mm) and gradually tapers to the tip.
