Modern silver, copper alloy and cloth toy and coin, deposited in the early 20th century
The find comprises a much worn silver coin, probably a sixpence of George II (1727 - 60), holed and found directly associated with a toy medalet. The medalet depicts an Edward VII penny and comprises two foils with internal cloth photographs of the royal family, now eroded. The obverse face depicts a bust of Edward VII and the reverse face is a seated Britannia facing right. In place of the shield is an oval aperture to view the photograph between the foils. Modern wood and ferrous pistol of 19th century date
The pistol was of percussion type with folding trigger and is complete (with an overall length of 160mm and a weight of 241.2g). The pistol was made by Freeman of London and is of 12mm (0.5 inch) calibre. The barrel is ferrous (with a length of 58mm and an external diameter of 18 - 19mm).
