A rim sherd from a copper-alloy plate or dish, dating from the post-Medieval period. The wall of the vessel forms an angle of approximately 45 degrees, with the rim itself being around 20 degrees. A moulded ridge, flanked by a pair of grooves, is located on the outer face of the vessel, near the base of the rim. On the inner wall there are two light grooves, which may be evidence of lathe finishing. Jagged edges form the three broken sides of the piece.

A medieval to post-Medieval copper-alloy thimble. A plain band extends around the base of the near-vertical wall of the thimble, which is otherwise covered with rows of sub-circular indentations. A spiral pattern of such indentations covers the slightly convex crown. Several similar thimbles were found in excavations at Southwark, mostly in layers dating from the late 15th to 17th centuries (Egan 2005: 131-133).

A plain copper-alloy ring, possibly representing the frame of a post-Medieval buckle. The ring has a pointed-oval cross section and narrows at two points around its circumference, which may represent either wear from a strap or from a former pin. In addition, there is a part of the frame that appears to have been flattened, and this may be a pin rest.

A copper-alloy post-medieval double-looped buckle frame, complete, and with the loop of the broken pin surviving in place on the bar (c. 16th century). The pin bar extends beyond the sides in short, angled lobes, with recesses to each side which emphasise them. The reverse and front surfaces are flat, and the frame bevelled internally and externally on the upper surface, giving it a trapezoidal cross-section. On the front of the outer edge of the loops is a centrally located five-petalled rosette, crudely cast. The buckle has a dark-green patina, corroding in places. In places there a…

Part of a late medieval to early post-Medieval copper-alloy single-loop buckle. The frame is broadly D-shaped, extending to a pointed pin rest and having heavily filed surfaces that slope downwards and outwards. Two stepped prongs extend backwards from the inner end of the frame and represent the remains of the spacers to which the now-missing plates would have been soldered. The pin is absent but would have been attached to the frame via a central constriction. Examples of buckles with forked spacers were found at Meols, Merseyside (Egan, in Griffiths et al 2007: 93). A late medieval to early post-Medieval copper-alloy single-loop buckle. The frame is broadly D-shaped, extending to a pointed pin rest and having sloping surfaces. The two plates are sub-rectangular in plan, the distal ends angled towards a central, circular perforation. Two rivets flank this perforation, linking the two plates, and would have served to hold in place the now-missing strap. Examination of the side view reveals that these plates have been attached to the surfaces of a pair of forked spacers which extend backwards from the frame. The loop of the copper-alloy pin has b…
