Object type: TOKEN
Broad period: POST MEDIEVAL
County: East Sussex
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
A Post Medieval cast lead alloy uniface token dating from c. AD 1550-1800. Powell Type 2. The token is decorated on one side with a capital 'W' created with two overlapping V's. The reverse is blank. The token has an even dark grey colour. Lead tokens had a wide variety of uses and were easy to manufacture and distribute; they are therefore difficult to date precisely, but those with initials are thought to date to the Post Medieval period.
