Medieval lead alloy spindle whorl, 27.5 mm in diameter, 14mm thick and weighing 51.22grams. The object is by conical in form and circular in cross section. The whorl has a wide flat ridge running around its edge and is un-decorated. It conforms to Walton Rogers form C, dating it from 1100-1500.

Medieval lead alloy spindle whorl, 28mm in diameter, 13mm thick and weighing 39.34g. the object is circular in form and biconical in cross section. Its sloping surface runs down to a ribbed edge. It is decorated on both sides with a raised concentric circle around the central circular suspension hole. with alternating concentric triangle and herring bone patterns around the sides.

Lead, medieval, spindle whorl. Diameter 29mm, thickness 8mm, weight 40.76g. The spindle whorl is circular with a rectangular cross section. There is a 10mm hole in the centre. The surface is decorated with a series of thin raised lines. These are arranged in two groups situated to reflect each other. One resembles a thin arrow and the other a V, with a smaller v inside it, near the edge. The back is undecorated. The form matches Walton Rogers type B which she dates to 900-1100AD.

Diameter 29mm, thickness 12mm, weight 41.08g The whorl is circular in form and bi-conical in cross section with a hole in the centre (10mm in diameter) and traces of a raised ridge along its edge. It is decorated on both sides with a series of thin raised lines. These are arranged in triangular shaped groups consisting of repeated chevrons and parallel, diagonally placed lines.

A failed cast of a medieval lead spindle whorl.The spindle is circular in plan with a flat back and it is decorated with alternating indentations and raised sub-triangular mouldings that radiate from the central perforation.There is the remnant of a piece of melted lead where the cast has failed,attached to one outside edge. Length 42mm, Width 30mm, thickness 14mm, weight 33g.

It has tapering surfaces which run down from the central circular hole and meet at a point. The surfaces are decorated on both sides with a series of raised crossing lines, common on these objects.
