119 pieces of lead ball shot. Found over a period of two years. When plotted on a graph, the shots can be roughly divided into five groups based on weight with clear breaks between the groups and a few outliers. The majority (62) weigh close to 30 grams and this group had a tight distribution, 23 shots cluster between 22.5 and 25.5 grams, there is a smaller cluster of 5 shot between 19.25 and 18.75 grams, and further small clusters of 12 shot between 12 and 9.5 grams and 4 shot between 5 and 4.5 grams. The majority of shots (89) have a diameter ranging between 15.5-20mm but the diamet…

Cast lead alloy hanging weight, possibly for a steelyard, probably of Medieval to Post-Medieval date. The weight is a truncated cone with an integral squared pierced attachment loop at the top. The hole for attachment is sub-circular. There is a circular indentation on the base. The weight measures 20.2mm in length. The diameter at the bottom is 14.3mm and it is 12.2mm at the top. It weighs 19.29 grams. Lead weights were used for a long period and lack many diagnostic features, so are difficult to date precisely although most are Medieval or Post medieval in date.
