An extremely worn Medieval voided silver long cross penny of Henry III (AD 1216-1272). Class 3, c. AD 1248-1250. Mint of Norwich; Moneyer: Willem. Although the coin is extremely worn and damaged with a cut running through half of the coin, it is possible to discern details that allow for a positive identification. The obverse legend reads: hENRICV[S] [REX III] and does not seem to depict a scepter with the crowned bust. The 'ENR' are all ligated. The reverse legend reads: WILLEM [ONN] ORW. The coin has suffered post-depositional circumferential losses. Cf. North Vol I, Nos. 986-988.
