A small cast copper alloy button. Discoidal, solid,convex front, a central pellet and a clockwise eight-bladed impeller within a cabled border. A crude semi circular shank extends from the base.

Medieval button; cast lead alloy button of possible 14th or 15th century date. The button is a large, circular disc with moulded decoration on one face. The decoration is in the form of a central pellet surrounded by a circle. This circle has a line running from each side to the edge, forming a cross. There are then four curves, one in each interstice of the cross, which are joined to the cross by short lines about halfway along each arm of the cross. A complete post medieval cast copper alloy solid biconical button, with a long integral shank, dating to the Post-Medieval period, (1500-1700). The object is circular in plan and has a domed head. Projecting from the rear of the head is an integral circular attachment loop. The object has a dark, brownish green patina. Similar examples can be found on p29, Bailey, (2004). The Post-Medieval button- 11.9 mm length, 9.9 mm width, 2.11 grams.

Button with rope design on the reverse rim. An incomplete early Post-Medieval cast lead-alloy button dating from about 1500-1700. The loop on the reverse is missing. The button was cast from a lead-alloy and the face is decorated with a raised pattern of a circular design, with one in the centre and seven around it in a circle, and may have held some form of semi-precious stones. The back is made of another pressed sheet circle with the remains of the attachment loop in the centre. The button face has a brown patina.
