A silver denarius of Caracalla (AD 196-217), dating to AD 205 (Reece Period 10). Reverse type: PONTIF TR P VIII COS II, Mars standing left, foot on helmet, holding branch and spear. RIC IV, pt 1, p. 225, no. 80bvar. The recorded type is only laureate and draped; this coin is laureate, draped and cuirassed right. However, there is slight cracking of the flan and some verdigris which might suggest that this is a plated copy.
