A complete cast copper alloy closed or domed type thimble of late Medieval to early Post Medieval date, circa AD1400-1550. The base of the thimble indicates that it might be double-skinned, but this is uncertain. The thimble is circular in plan. In profile, the sides are straight and taper slightly to a shallow dome. The lower edge of the thimble is decorated with a single groove. The sides and top of the thimble are covered with hand-punched, circular indentations which are arranged in neat rows.
