An incomplete silver plated Roman denarius of Claudius I (AD 41-54), dating to the period c.AD 41-54 (Reece Period 2). PACI AVGVSTAE reverse type depicting Pax-Nemesis advancing right holding caduceus over snake, drawing drapery from beneath chin. Prototype of the mint of Rome. cf. RIC I (2nd ed.), p. 122, no. 10 for the reverse type.
This coin has corroded extensively on both faces, with a loss of the silver plating and legend on the obverse.
