A Roman radiate coin of Claudius II, struck after his death. The base silver coin dates to Reece period 13 (AD 260-75). It has a diameter of 17.92mm, a thickness of 1.49mm and a weight of 1.93 grams. The reverse shows CONSEC[RATIO] with the eagle, symbolizing the emperors ascent to the gods. The coin is in fair condition, the details are relatively legible but there is a red/brown patina with a few areas of chalky green deterioration.

Part of a copper alloy Roman coin; a contemporary copy of a radiate (a barbarous radiate) copying a coin of Claudius II (268 - 270AD), Divus Claudius type, with CONSECRATIO (altar) reverse, struck 270AD. Only half of the coin survives and it seems to lack any inscription. Many barbarous radiates are thought to have been produced between c.275-85AD due to a shortage of small change in Britain.
