A fragment apparently from the lid of a ceramic vessel, dating from the 18th century (AD 1750 - 1900). It appears to be made from a dark grey or black fine stonewear, perhaps basaltes or similar. Part of the rim of the lid survives, which has an estimated diameter of 60mm. The rim projects downwards from a domed or conical lid which is elaborately moulded in a geometric design of raised three dimensional lozenges (pyramids) creating a design similar to a pinecone. It is 26.6mm long, 20.2mm wide and 10.2mm high. It weighs 3.79g. It could be the lid from a teapot or small dish.
