A selection of four pottery sherds of Medieval Clay Hill type ware, dating from c. AD 1175-1225. All of the sherds consist of body sherds with a darker orange-red colour. All sherds possess very small inclusions of sand and medium-small inclusions of flint, which are pervasive throughout the material. Found in conjunction with nine pottery sherds of Lewes Castle Ware, dating from c. AD 1050-1175. Total weight 7.68 grams.

A selection of nine pottery sherds of Medieval Lewes flinty ware, dating from c. AD 1050-1175. All of the sherds except for one small fragment consist of body sherds, with the latter a rim sherd. The external faces of the sherds range from a light reddish-orange to buff-white to reddish-brown in colour, with the interior surfaces similar in colour. All sherds possess large inclusions of flint, which are pervasive throughout the material. Total weight 48.64 grams.

A ceramic sherd of a Roman Dressel 37 decorated Samian bowl, c. late 1st-2nd century AD. The sherd consists of a trapezoidal fragment of the bowl, without rim or base segments and both glazed surfaces are reddish-orange in colour with pinkish-red coloured clay at all breaks. The vessel fragment has been reassembled from three separate fragments all found in situ together and then refitted using glue. A ceramic sherd of a Medieval sandy ware vessel of uncertain type, dating from later 13th-14th century AD. The sherd is fairly flat, making it difficult to attribute it to a particular type of vessel. The outer face seems to have been slipped with a light grey slip and the inner and outer surfaces seem to have been equally orange in colour before the outer face was slipped. The core of the sherd is thick and dark grey in colour. It measures 32.5 mm long, 25.3. mm wide, 6.4 mm thick and weighs approximately 6.6 grams.

The tegula fragment is one relatively straight edge, suggesting that this may have been an original edge to the tile, whereas the rest of the surfaces and edges are highly abraded. Four shallow, probably 'combed' incised lines are visible on the underside of the tegula; no other decoration remains.

Two sherds from the base of a late Iron Age to early Roman ceramic probably handmade vessel, dating to between 50 BC-AD 100. Probably East Sussex Ware. The sherds are dark grey on both faces and thin, with flint temper. The sherds do not fit tightly together, but seem to originate from the base of the same vessel. A wheel-made and slipped rim sherd from a Roman Samian Ware ceramic probably carinated cup, c. 3rd century AD. East Gaulish, Trier, Samian Ware. The sherd has an orange/orange-brown fabric, with chalk inclusions and a relatively dull reddish-orange slip. The rim is sligtly everted. Lines are visible on the external and internal faces, probably from manufacturing technique. A rim sherd of a wheel-made ceramic Roman Samian ware vessel probably from a small bowl, c. 3rd century AD. The fragment is probably East Gaulish, Trier/Argonne ware with a pinkish core and chalk inclusions. It has a reddish-orange fine gloss/matte finish, with a lightly facetted outer rim surface and unevenly-spaced incised lines running the circumference of the outer surface, possibly from manufacturing techniques. Rim diameter is estimated at 24 cm (external), 22 cm (internal), 5.5 mm thick (at rim), 5.3 mm thick (at body) and weighs 6.2 grams.

Two ceramic tesserae dating to the Roman period. (1) Ceramic tessera, sub-rectangular in plan and cuboid in shape, with one rounded outer surface. It is likely that this tessera was manufactured from the flange of a tegula tile. Grog-tempered. Measurements: 31.3 mm long, 29.2 mm wide, 20.9 mm thick and weighs 29.6 grams. (2) Ceramic tessera, sub-rectangular in plan and cuboid in shape. Grog-temper and micaceous inclusions. Measurements: 24.1 mm long, 22.1 mm wide, 17.8 mm thick and weighs 15.8 grams.

A complete Post Medieval pipe clay wig curler, c. AD 1650-1800. It is cylindrical with a narrowed centre (9 mm diameter), which then flares out to rounded sections (12.8 mm in diameter) which then taper to flattened circular ends(7.1 mm diameter). On the flat circular faces are stamped initials, possibly 'JB' surmounted by a simple crown. In between initials and crown is a further stamped detail, probably either a pellet or mullet. Two fragments of Medieval medium sand-tempered oxidised wares, c. 1225/1250-1325/1350 AD. The larger of the two fragments consists of a tubular hollow handle of a skillet, which possesses some flint temper; the handle is missing one end and has become detached from the larger skillet. It measures 89.4 mm long, approximately 34 mm in diameter and weighs 85.2 grams. The second smaller fragment is of a rim from a cooking pot or bowl of c. 20 cm diameter (external). It measures 41.5 mm long, 22.4 mm wide, 10.7 mm thick and weighs 12.9 grams.
