Extremely abraded Roman end-loop cosmetic pestle, distal end of sub-circular sectioned stem missing. The suspension loop is tear-drop shaped and along the stem "a slender bill-like extension giving the appearance of a duck-head" (Jackson 1985, 182, no. 41). Length >50.5mm. 1st - 2nd century.

Triangular foot and lower end of the bow of a Roman copper alloy enamelled brooch in battered condition with stub of catchplate on reverse. Most of the edges and base of the foot is missing and the bow fragment is an abraded stub. Near the base an inverted C-shaped cell is inlaid with blue enamel. Above this an oval cell may have contained green. No enamel remains in the triangular interstices or in an inverted V-shaped cell at the top of the foot. A Bow-and-fantail or a Trumpet derivative. Length >26mm. Width >9mm. Late 1st - 2nd century.

Roman/Early Saxon copper alloy propeller-shaped belt stiffener, parts of the sides missing. Two rivet holes. The terminals are decorated with lines of punched dots along the sides and ends. In the centre a large double ring-and-dot is surrounded by two concentric rings of punched dots and between them a ring of punched crescents. A military dress accessory. 35 x >23mm. 4th century, but perhaps in use in the 5th.
