An incomplete cast copper-alloy Post Medieval strap fitting for a sword belt of probable 17th century date. The main body of the fitting is oval in plan, with a convex upper surface and a concave underside. Extending from the top of this oval form is a single horizontal rib, above which is a sub-circular knop. Retained through this knop is a single circular rivet hole. An incomplete silver voided short cross penny. Possibly John (c.1199-1216) or Henry III (c.1216-1272), class 6 (c.1210-1217) due to the style of the bust/beard.The coin has been broken (though not a clean break) in antiquity diagonally across the bust from the 10 o'clock to the 5 o'clock position. There is evidence of the coin being holed along the break at the 10 o'clock position and 3.78mm in from the edge, the hole is 1.33mm wide and 1.74mm in length and is straight sided. A complete copper alloy, post medieval dress hook dating from AD 1500 - 1700. It has an openwork rectangular loop with a design of arches and floral work (?). There is a knop on each corner of the main frame of the fastener nearest the hook, extending either side of the hook. The hook is present though slightly bent and missing its very tip. Dark/light green patina. 29.98mm in length, 14.93mm in width, 1.88mm thick and 1.73g in weight. The FLO adds: This design does not appear to be in Hooked-Clasps and Eyes by Brian Read, though it fits into his Class E type 2.

A medieval copper alloy strap end. It is formed of two matching plates but the closed end (probably originally a spacer plate with terminal) is missing. The attachment end has a single central copper alloy rivet and the end is W-shaped, i.e. convex in the centre with a projection at each corner. The patina is dark green. The strap end is 23.82mm in length, 16.55mm wide, 3.76mm thick, 5.25gm in weight. A Roman copper alloy strap fitting; a strap slide with central circular boss. The slider is cast into the shape of a dome with radiating grooves and a circumferencial groove near the base of the dome, filled with blue enamel. At the centre of the dome is a spherical boss; this has been cast separately and attached to the slider as a stud - on the reverse there is a hollow area with the point of the stud protruding. An Early Medieval copper alloy pin probably dating from the 9th century. The head is polyhedral, taking the form of a cube with the corners cut off to produce thirteen faces. The four main faces have a single ring-and-dot motif as decoration. The top is flat and undecorated. The pin head is 8.12mm long and measures 6.13mm x 4.11mm. The shaft is probably incomplete. It is 23.05mm in length, 2.37mm in diameter and circular in section, is slightly bent and gently tapers down to the old, worn break. The pin has a smooth brown-green patina. An Iron Age coin; an imported Gallo Belgic Type D, geometric gold quarter stater which appears to be of the Boat Tree series of the Morini tribe, dating from about 80 BC - 50 BC (Haselgrove Period II, Phase 4 or 5). At 1.63g it is much heavier than the British type but because there is so little design it's difficult to be sure. The coin is 8.92mm diameter at its widest and 2.4mm thick. There is a lobe present to the left and right of the head before the bowextends and tapersinto a U-shaped bow in profile with a D-shaped section. The brooch comprises an ovular frame with bevelled edges and incised with a series of transverse grooves around the entirety of the obverse of the frame. The reverse is undecorated. The bit is rectangular with four wards projecting away from the shaft, the dividing groove of the ward closest the the bow runs through the entire bit to the shaft whereas the remaining three wards are divided by two grooves that only run into the bit by less than 50%. A post-Medieval silver coin: a three halfpence of Elizabeth I (1558- 1603), second issue, dated 1561, Pheon initial mark. It is 16.8mm in diameter and 0.5mm thick. It weighs 0.72gm. See North, volume 2, page 135, number 2000. The coin is slightly double struck on the obverse to the left hand side. A cast copper alloy incomplete ear ring (probably), dating from the 1st or 2nd centuries AD, probably Allason-Jones Type 13 (as illustrated in Worrell (2004) Roman an Iron Age training Notes (unpublished)). The ear ring consists of a double boss made up of two convex oval faces. There are signs of two possible fixing points on the shank between the bosses but these are very slight and only noticeable under a loupe. A cast copper alloy dumbell toggle dating from the late Iron Age or early Roman period (about 100 BC - 200 AD). The toggle is comprised of two semi-spherical collared knobs joined by a reel shaped element in the centre and is all one piece. There is no evidence of an attachment loop.
