An incomplete cast copper-alloy Post Medieval strap fitting for a sword belt of probable 17th century date. The main body of the fitting is oval in plan, with a convex upper surface and a concave underside. Extending from the top of this oval form is a single horizontal rib, above which is a sub-circular knop. Retained through this knop is a single circular rivet hole. A Roman copper alloy strap fitting; a strap slide with central circular boss. The slider is cast into the shape of a dome with radiating grooves and a circumferencial groove near the base of the dome, filled with blue enamel. At the centre of the dome is a spherical boss; this has been cast separately and attached to the slider as a stud - on the reverse there is a hollow area with the point of the stud protruding. A probably early Roman copper alloy strap fitting or strap slide, probably dating from the 2nd century. It is 20.1mm long, 7.9mm wide and 7.1mm thick with a weight of 2.77grams. The fitting has a majority light green patina and is rectangular in form with rounded ends, decorated with an embossed design which appears to have four limbs and a head (possibly a creature or a figure) in the shape of a cross.
