A post-medieval gold finger mourning ring dating to 1722. It has a oval bezel (8.00 x 4.5mm) with raised edges and a recessed centre, but missing its semi-precious stone. The hoop is quite worn, decorated with multiple motifs. There are traces of a black inlay. The inscription inside the ring reads E Strode ob 19 Mar 1722 AEtat 42. There is a maker's mark or hallmark "WS" or"MS". The ring is 20.65mm in diameter and 3.20mm thick.

Description: A gold post-medieval Half-unite of Charles I dating to AD 1643. Civil War period, Thomas Bushell's mint, Oxford (North 2395). This coin has been bent in the form of a love token and has a circular perforation to the right of the bust located at 2 o'clock on the obverse. The circular perforation has been made from the obverse. Obverse: Crowned bust left with X behind. Bust extends to bottom of coin. Description Half of a penannular ring of circular cross-section comprising gold foil covering a base metal (copper alloy) core. The exposed core and outer surface of the gold are iron-stained, probably from the burial environment. The fragment appears to have been quite neatly cut from the direction of the gap as the inner edge of the cross-section is flattened over the edge of the core and the outer edge is more ragged. An Iron Age uninscribed uniface gold stater, c. 60-20 BC. One side of the coin is undecorated, while the other depicts a triple-tailed horse facing right, wheel below and charioteer's arms above. The perimeter edges of the coin are missing, so further attributes are unavailable for identification. Listed as the Selsey Uniface type in Rudd (2010) 'Ancient British Coins', p. 47, No. 488. Rudd (ibid) mentioned that approximately 50 similar coins were discovered as part of the Climping, West Sussex hoard. Cf. VA 216, BMC 461-75.

A complete Iron Age early uninscribed gold quarter stater, c. 60-20 BC. 'Bognor Cogwheel' Type; cf. ABC 509; BMC 519-35. The quarter stater is in excellent condition, with clear detail on the obverse and reverse faces. Obverse: Wreath design with hidden face. Reverse: Triple-tailed horse galloping right with beaded mane; floral sun above, cogwheel below.
