An incomplete, heavily abraded Roman brooch of Colchester derivative, Polden Hill type dating from AD 90-130. The brooch has been heavily abraded during its time in the soil. It is undecorated. The bow is hump-shaped, and less than half of it remains. The foot and catch plate have been lost. One of the two wings has been broken off, the other remains which is semi-cylindrical in shape. A 17th-century post-medieval copper-alloy quarter ounce trade weight, dating from the reign of Charles I or II (1625-1685). The pan weight is formed of a thick disc. A cast copper-alloy fragment from a cooking vessel of post-medieval date. The artefact consists of the foot and a short section of leg above. Immediately above the foot is a ribbed collar. The foot is decorated on the front with three vertical ribs, the central rib being wider than the two flanking ribs to the side. The leg has a flat reverse and broadens to the sides and front below the collar, giving it a sub-triangular cross-section. The leg is green with flecks of black soot. An incomplete 'shafthole' adze of Bronze Age date - probably earlier Bronze Age date (2200-1500 BC). The implement is broadly a flat oval in profile and has a single perforation through the flat faces. The perforation has a hour glass profile charactersitic of having been pecked from both sides. It seems likely that this perforation is not central to the axe. The pebble has fractured across the perforation, and this half is broadly rectangular in plan with a rounded, tapered end. A fragment of pottery of uncertain function - it is most probably a piece of ceramic kiln furniture which originally was circular in shape and is lentoid in cross section. A complete, cast lead spindle whorl of probable Medieval date. It is biconical in shape, with a circular perforation in the centre. The whorl has been miscast, with a leak in the mould resulting in the lead from one side forming as blobs on the other. An incomplete post-medieval copper-alloy double-looped buckle dating to c. 1650-1720. What remains is one loop and the bar of frame. North (1975, 121-124). This coin has been heavily clipped inside of its inner bead circle, so the legends have been removed. The obverse is very worn with only the XII denomination and the crown showing. The reverse is worn with only the outline of the shield and the bottom two quarters showing.
