Fragment of the external loop of a later medieval or post medieval buckle frame. The fragment is lentoid and thickened in the middle. A notch is present on one edge and it is possible that this is an artefact of movement in the soil rather than a rest for the pin. The fragment has a thick green well formed surface patina.

A near complete Medieval copper alloy single loop sub-triangular buckle dated c AD 1250-1400. The outer edge of the buckle frame is expanded and terminates in a blunted point that is flanked by two small nub-like projections creating an irregular trefoil shaped moulding. The opposing edge has a narrowed and offset strap bar with two terminal knops on either edge. The upper surface of the buckle is decorated with a recessed pin rest flanked by horizontal grooves. A near complete cast copper alloy buckle ‘locking buckle’ of later medieval date (1350-1450). The frame of the buckle is sub-rectangular (rectangular with rounded corners) in plan. The frame is irregularly divided into two parts by an axis bar which is positioned 1/3 of the way along the frame. The axis bar is cast from copper alloy and fits through two (cast?) holes. The terminal of one side of the axis bar is irregular in shape extending to form a relatively irregular loop or hook - the upper part of this is lost due to old damage. A complete cast lead Medieval spindle whorl. It is biconical in shape, with a broadly circular perforation in the centre. There is similar decoration both faces, consisting of radial lines creating 11 broadly equal wedges, each with a domed pellet within. The whorl has a cream patina. It is 32mm in diameter, and 10mm thick. The perforation is 9-10mm in diameter. It weighs 41g.

An incomplete, cast, copper alloy buckle frame of medieval or post medieval date, AD c. 1350-c. 1650. The artefact consists of the outer loop of either a single loop, D shaped buckle or a double looped (spectacle) buckle. The frame has a triangular shaped, notched pin rest, with a decorative groove either side. The frame is oval in cross section, and is titled so that the outer face slopes outwards and downwards towards the rear. It has an even mid- green coloured well preserved surface patina.
Weight 2.7g. Remaining length 20mm, width 28mm, thickness 3.8mm.

A fragment of a cast, copper alloy, binding strip from a Medieval casket or box, or possibly a leather object. The strip has a flattened D section. The fragment comes from one end of the strip, which tapers to a rounded terminal. Before the terminal is a countersunk peircing for a rivet, followed by a rectangular length before its break across a second peircing. The fragment is much abraded and if there was any decoration it has been lost. It has a dark grey-green patina, with patches of lighter green corrossion and bare, red-brown metal.

A complete, cast, copper alloy, Medieval strap mount. The mount is a hollow backed dome with an off-centre peircing for a missing separate rivet. The mount is crudely decorated with six unevenly spaced linear groves that radiate from the apex of the dome to the perimeter. The mount has a green patina, with the underlying red-brown metal showing in areas of abrasion.

A sherd from the rim of a cermaic vessel - the sherd has been heavily over fired or possibly burnt. In form it most resembles Roman Black burnishedwares although the fabric is very course and similar to that of medieval cooking vessels being mica-rich and with significant amounts of rounded quartz inclusions. The internal rim of vessel is raised with a distinct curved projection which is emphasised by a circumferential incised groove. The rim then project horizontally and tapers inward to for a triangular shaped projection.

An incomplete cast copper alloy pin from a buckle of late Medieval to Post Medieval date (1200 - 1500 AD). The pin is sub rectangular in plan, and rectangular in cross section. The shank of the pin tapers to a blunt end. The pin is slighlty wider and deeper at the head of the pin, where the loop that held the pin to the buckle bar has broken off, leaving two rough areas, one at the end of the pin and one underneath. The pin has a mid green patina

The frame is a narrow oval in cross section, deeper than it is wide. The sides of the bar taper in depth from front to rear, with the rear bar being 3.7mm thick and the outer edge 4.5mm thick.

The fragments consists of most of the central bar and part of one side, with a short length of of one of the outer ends. The original slider would have been double looped and rectangular with rounded corners in shape. The central bar and end are round in cross-section, and the wider side oval. The frgament has a green patina.

An incomplete iron horse shoe of later Medieval or Post Medieval date (1250-1550). The elongated shape of the shoe indicates it was for a rear hoof. The web of the shoe is unusually wide with an arched top to the narrow inner gap. Looking at the ground surface the shoe has lost most of its left hand branch and is heavily corroded giving it an uneven surface. On the left hand side there are three nail holes, all with protruding iron nail heads in place, and positioned opposite, on the broken branch, are two broadly rectangular nail holes, now filled by corrosion. A partial rod handle from a glazed earthenware jug of Medieval date c1150-c1400. The fabric is a hard earthenware and is light grey in colour, with an oxidised light orange surface. On the outer edge is a green coloured glaze. There is one deliberate hollow puncture on the outer edge of the handle.
