An incomplete lead-alloy papal bulla of medieval date. It is circular in shape and flat but only approximately one third remains, the rest missing due to old breaks. The obverse bears a relief-moulded bearded head, either St. Peter or St. Paul. This is surrounded by a curved row of pellets which is incomplete due to the missing portion. A lead spindle-whorl of Medieval date (c. AD1200-1500). It is a circular spindle whorl with a central circular hole and appears to be undecorated. Lead weights like these are common finds, but only rarely from excavated contexts which is why date and origin are difficult to pinpoint. Decorated lead-alloy weights are very rare finds in excavations, but are often found by metal detectorists.
