An incomplete copper alloy finger ring with moulded decoration, of medieval dating (AD 1200 to AD 1500). The finger ring consists of a copper alloy hoop with moulded decoration. It has a D shaped cross section with a prominent ridge on the external surface. This central ridge is 2.6mm wide and is flanked by two parallel recessed incomplete edges. The central ridge demonstrates a regular pattern of short vertical incised grooves. The internal surface of the ring exhibits a large number of file marks. No inscription appears to be present. A gem is set into the bezel with a plain setting. The gem is oval. Under magnification, it is possible to see pitting and a conchoidal fracture in the surface of the gem, suggesting that it is probably glass as opposed to a gemstone.
