Check Findspot. Surgical horseshoe of forged iron dating to the Post Medieval period. The shoe has straight sides and no calkins. There is a plate covering the underside of the horseshoe to provide protection for the frog of the horse. At least four nails are still present, suggesting that this was a casual loss rather than a removal (Clark, 1995). It is very rusted and there are thick deposits on both sides. It measures 140.1mm in length , 142.1mm in width, 12.1mm in thickness at the edge and 7.6mm at the plate and weighs 805g. The measurements have been affected by the corrosion, …
