A damaged, sheet copper alloy, bowl, probably Roman, possibly of the 'Irchester' type, dating from c. 350-450AD. The bowl is made from a single piece of sheet metal, hammered to a thickness of about 1mm, turned inwards at the rim. There are faint striations running vertically up the body of the bowl. Although badly damaged by crushing, it is likely that the bowl was about 136mm in diameter. A cast, copper alloy, medieval horse harness pendant, dating from c. 1250-1400. It is in the form of an octofoil; the eight lobes project from a circular centre and are patterned as eight-petalled flowers. One of the lobes carries a pierced suspension loop. Two of the lobes are broken and have pieces missing. The central area is decorated with a cross pommee in the centre, and a pattern of leaves round the edge, both in relief. A cast, copper alloy, Roman disc brooch, dating from c. 80-250AD. It is decorated with a simple raised pattern of a hexagon with concave sides; each point of the hexagon has a projecting disc. There is a central raised dot. There are traces of red enamel remaining within the hexagon; that outside the hexagon is missing. The single lug for the pin remains in place on the reverse of the brooch, but the pin and part of the catch plate are missing. It is 20.5mm in diameter and 6.6mm thick. It weighs 4.3gm. Half of a cast, copper alloy, medieval mirror case, dating from the Medieval period, probably 1270 - 1350 AD. The artefact consists of the decorated half of a hinged metal-cased compact mirror. It is a cast disc, with a flat decorated exterior surface and a flat interior recessed within walls. At one point on the outside edge of the mirror case is a double lug which would have held a bar to form a hinge. On the opposite side of the disc is an integral single lug. This would have acted as a catch to keep the two halves of the case together. The interior of the case is missing any trace…

A Later Neolithic or Early Bronze Age, plano-convex flint knife, dating from c. 2500-1500 BC. The knife is made on dark brown translucent flint, with areas or light grey but no patination. It is bifacially worked, but most of the removals are from the dorsal face. There are large invasive removals in the centre and scalar retouch limited to the edges. There is larger scalar retouch on one side of the ventral face. It is 80.6mm long, 32.8mm wide and 10.5mm thick. It weighs 24.51gm. For reference see Edmonds (1995) Stone Tools and Society, page 159.

A medieval silver coin: probably an Irish penny of Edward IV (1461-83), Suns and Roses coinage (1478-83), Dublin mint. As is usual with this issue, the coin is short of flan and has been clipped, rendering the legends largely illegible. It is 13.6mm in diameter and 0.6mm thick. It weighs 0.41gm. The obverse is double struck. The coin is similar to number 6393 in Seaby's Coins of Scotland, Ireland and the Islands, but the reverse has three rose in each angle instead of a mixture of roses and suns.
