A copper alloy Roman pointed oval plate brooch. The plate is divided into three cells; a large central oval cell and a thicker band surrounding that and a thin border. The enamel is all decayed. The pin and most of the catch plate are missing. It has a single pin lug. It has a length of 36.15mm, width 26.58mm, thickness 6.14mm, weight 17.20g. Half of a cast copper alloy Roman brooch of the dragonesque type, dating from c. 75 - 175 AD. Half of the brooch has broken away and is missing. The remaining portion is a closed loop with the usual zoomorphic dragon's head terminal and an expanded body. It is 21.9mm long, 23mm wide and 4.4mm thick. It weighs 4.27gm. One half of a solid copper alloy bracelet with thickened terminals, probably Roman, dating from c. 90-200AD. The bracelet is of flat D shaped section. The remaining terminal is thickened and has two transverse grooves two notches forming collars immediately behind the thickened end. There are also grooves along the edge of the bracelet except near the terminal. The bracelet has a dark brown patina. It is 58.1mm long, 11.7 mm wide and 33.9mm thick. It weighs 19.4gm. A small cast copper-alloy Roman slide key. The circular bow is plain and is of flat rectangular section. The key bit projects from the outer surface. The bit is at right angles to the plane of the bow and has three wards separated by shallow U-shaped grooves. The outer edge is thicker than the inner. The key has a glossy dark green patina. It is 27.2mm long, 2.mm wide and 10.8mm thick. It weighs 7.03g. See Allason-Jones and Miket, Catalogue of Small Finds From South Shields Roman Fort, No. 3.348.

A damaged, sheet copper alloy, bowl, probably Roman, possibly of the 'Irchester' type, dating from c. 350-450AD. The bowl is made from a single piece of sheet metal, hammered to a thickness of about 1mm, turned inwards at the rim. There are faint striations running vertically up the body of the bowl. Although badly damaged by crushing, it is likely that the bowl was about 136mm in diameter. A cast, copper alloy, Roman disc brooch, dating from c. 80-250AD. It is decorated with a simple raised pattern of a hexagon with concave sides; each point of the hexagon has a projecting disc. There is a central raised dot. There are traces of red enamel remaining within the hexagon; that outside the hexagon is missing. The single lug for the pin remains in place on the reverse of the brooch, but the pin and part of the catch plate are missing. It is 20.5mm in diameter and 6.6mm thick. It weighs 4.3gm.
