An incomplete cast copper alloy Roman brooch. A hinged head enamelled brooch dating to the 2nd century AD. The centrepiece is a flat lozenge with panels of enamelling (now missing). It would have two terminals but one has broken off. The remaining terminal is long and is separated from the centrepiece by a sub-rounded collar. Only one half of the coin remains and it is very worn. One sherd of a fineware pottery vessel of early Roman date. Part of the foot-ring base of a Terra Nigra jar. This is a wheel-thrown vessel. The fabric is mid grey in colour, well-fired and smooth to the touch. The surface is dark grey and has been burnished. Length 33mm, thickness of the foot-ring 4.58mm, weight 6.9g. Using a rim chart it can be calculated that the base would have been 90mm in diameter. 'Terra Nigra' was produced in Gaul during the late 1st century BC into the 1st century AD and was imported from Gaul into Britain in the first century AD (circa AD 43-70).…

A cast copper alloy Post-Medieval mount, 17th century. The mount consists of a central convex element, oval in plan. At each end is a fan-shaped terminal with grooves. On the rear are two integral lugs, both broken. Length 42.51mm, width 17.65mm, thickness 4.69mm, weight 8.6mm. The object has a smooth surface. There is some damage to the surface and some wear around the egdes. It has a very dark brownish green patina with light green corrosion product on the reverse and in the damaged areas. Cast copper alloy hooked mount, probably Post-Medieval in date. The attachment end element is 23.1mm wide and has four rivet holes (rivets are missing), a central knop and a crescentic end edge.
