An incomplete Post Medieval copper alloy mount, 16th century. The domed mount has been cast all-in-one with a large internal square-sectioned rivet. The mount is oval-shaped in plan, with a small straight break just inset from the uppermost point. The mount is fairly steeply domed, and has a thin rectangular section. The reverse is therefore concave, with the large rivet projecting outwards from the centre. The rivet has been folded over around halfway along its length so that it bends back towards the mount. The reverse of the mount is undecorated and has a coarse, granular texture. B…

An incomplete Medieval copper alloy mount with facing figures, 15th century AD. The mount is oval in plan, but before the left and right outer edges broke off it would originally have been a circular disc, measuring approximately 14.6mm in diameter. The rectangular-sectioned mount has been cast into a thin sheet with a raised motif on the outer face. Designed to fit inside a circular border, two figures face each other with raised hands. They could possibly be holding an object up between them at eye-level. This object has been pierced with a small circular attachment hole and at the o…

A late Medieval - early Post Medieval copper alloy fragment of an object dating to the 15th - early 16th centuries. The fragment is flat, roughly triangular with all the edges broken. The front surface is decorated with engraved angular patterns or black letters. John Clark notes the fragment is flat where if this were a fragment of a vessel there would normally be a curve. There is also a similarity with funeral monument brasses but this fragment is too thick. Geoff Egan suggests that this is not too thick to be a fragment from a funeral monument brass and this seems the most…
