An incomplete late Iron Age to early Roman copper alloy zoomorphic end-looped cosmetic mortar (1st century BC - 1st century AD). The cast copper alloy cosmetic mortar has an oval section and a slight curve throughout its length; there is a deep recession in its upper edge, inset only slightly from each end of the object. At one end, the gently curving mortar terminates in a rectangular-sectioned knop that has been pierced with a circular hole to create an attachment loop. Incomplete Iron Age cast copper alloy brooch of La Tene Type I (Ia or Ib), 5th-3rd century BC. The head and sprung pin of the brooch are missing and the break is very worn. The irregularly-sectioned bow is highly arched in a semi circle. Travelling away from the head the bow widens and divides with a deep central cleft so that the main length of the bow has a V-shaped section. Towards the foot the bow becomes solid again and narrows. An unidentified Iron Age cast copper alloy object. The object has a short length of rectangular-sectioned bar or shank that abuts an oval-sectioned tear-shaped loop or bow, that has a tear-shaped central hole. Between the bar and the loop is a raised collar divided into two. Apart from this the object is undecorated; its surface has a dark olive-green patina. The object measures 41.5mm long, 14.4mm wide and 5.1mm thick. It weighs 7.97 grams. Identified by Jody Joy, Curator of Iron Age Britain and Europe, British Museum.

A Late Iron Age to Early Roman cast copper alloy button-and-loop fastener with solid double-disc head (1- 200 AD). The fastening has an irregular plan, but has been cast in one piece with a heavy circular-plan loop, above which projects a toggle formed by two conjoined discs. The circular-sectioned loop extends into a slight point before curving upwards and thickening slightly to form a short shaft beneath the toggle. The artefact consists of the trapezoidal head of a harness mount and a ridged section below it where a good deal of iron corrosion suggests that an iron element from the mount was present but has broken off. A Roman copper alloy incomplete brooch, possibly a Colchester-type two-piece derivative (1st century AD). At the head of the brooch are the remains of two wings; and two loops - one to secure the spring and one for the chord. The brooch has a flat bow which tapers to a sharp point at the foot. Reverse: Horse right, double upper left front leg, pellets for mane, solid head and lick of flame from mouth, pellet in ring below, diamond shaped motif above with pellet in right at each point, star above tail, trefoil motif above mane. cf. Incomplete Iron Age cast copper alloy La Tene-derivative brooch (4th-3rd century BC). The brooch has a long pointed-oval bow with a looped foot. The foot has been distorted and the rounded knop at the end of the foot has been folded over on itself. At the opposite end of the brooch the sprung pin has broken off, leaving just one loop of the spring remaining. The front face of the brooch is undecorated and the reverse is plain. A complete Roman cast copper-alloy end-looped cosmetic mortar (100 BC - 200 AD). The cosmetic mortar would have been used alongside a small pestle, also with an attachment loop, in the preparation of cosmetics and ointments. The mortar has an attachment loop that has been cast all in one. The mortar radiates outwards from the attachment loop before narrowing into a point to make a leaf-shaped bowl that is 50.24mm long. The surface of the mortar is worn, pitted and is a brown-red colour with patches of green patina. The mortar is 23.5mm wide and 7.24mm deep. It weighs 16.41 grams.
