Fragment of openwork military buckle plate, part of one side only. One hinge loop survives with four grooves around it. Immediately next to the loop is a small circular rivet hole. The surviving edge of the buckle plate is set in from (narrower than) the loop area and is bevelled, with three rectangular projections. It is broken across a large circular perforation at both ends of a large central rectangular perforation. Surviving dimensions 37 x 12mm. Cf. Hawkes and Dunning (1961) fig.17, g, e and l. Incomplete triangular gilded copper-alloy buckle plate, a sheet folded at the hinge and broken where recessed for frame and pin-slot, back part or under-plate missing. There is an animal-head terminal wrought in low relief on the pointed end of the triangular plate, separated from the rest of the plate by a bold transverse ridge. The rest of the plate has traces of three engraved bordering lines on both sides and an engraved line at the broad end, and is pierced by two rivet-holes each set in line with the pin slot and both containing a copper alloy rivet.
