Very unusual rectangular enamelled horse harness mount, with an integral shank on the reverse, bearing the arms: Gules a maunch ?Or/Argent. Probably for HASTINGS, the more usual tinctures of the arms Or a maunch Gules being reversed here. Late 13th-14th century.

Incomplete gilt copper alloy horse harness suspension mount, bar has solid exaggerated triangular section, rounded horizontal edge projecting forwards, flat-sectioned (probable fleur-de-lis) terminal broken across rivet-hole and perforation in flat-sectioned centre with remains of folded projections at base forming twin loops, other half of mount missing, >57 x >14mm. Cf. Keen and Hough (1993) Beeston Castle, fig.102, no.68, and examples of related bar mounts from Postwick (Norfolk HER 20434) and Colkirk (Norfolk HER 37130). 12th-century.

Incomplete tinned harness mount, remains of a large loop of sub-triangular section with an upright rectangular-sectioned pear-shaped projection with a vertical rib on both faces at the base, above two semicircular swellings at the junction with the rectangular plate with integral rectangular loop on reverse. Superficially similar to a terret, although the large internal projection would inhibit any use as a rein guide. >46 x >40mm. Possibly 1st century AD.

Incomplete gilt horse harness mount, very worn and corroded, damaged edges, rectangular with remains of flanking rectangular perforated lugs (one broken across perforation), decorated with small stamped annulet within two concentric rectangular lines of stamped annulets which also border the outside edges of the lugs. >42 x 34mm. Distorted and abraded harness fitting, a strap hook consisting of a long rectangular plate with four rivet holes and an integral hook at one end. One hole contains iron, one is empty and those at the opposite end to the hook have been ripped through to the edge. No extant gilding or decoration. Cf. an enamelled example from Whissonsett (HER 31879; Ashley EAA 101, fig. 24 no. 245). Length 59mm. Width 14mm. 13th - 14th century.
