A fragment of a modern lead alloy toy train carriage. The fragment contains one side of the carriage; it is decorated on one face with two wheels and the slatted carriage wall. The name 'LIVERPOOL' is written inside one of the slats. Attached to one wheel is a linear fragment, possibly a piece of track. The top of the carriage is broken. The reverse is plain and rough, suggesting that this was one side of a 3D toy and that the reverse would have been hidden inside the toy. The fragment measures 40.7mm (length) x 25.6mm (width) x 1.7mm (thickness) and weighs 3.05g. This toy fragment …

Uni-faced cast lead token of late post-medieval or modern date (1700-1850). The token is broadly circular in plan with rough edges. The upper face is decorated with a cast design of a male bust turned to the right. The bust is bare headed and without clear clothing. Although originally well cast with the design being shown in high relief the token is now distorted by corrosion and abrasion. The reverse is also plain and flat. The token measures 28.9mm (diameter) x 4.6mm (thickness) and weighs 21.16g. A similar but lighter token is recorded on the database as HESH-BBDE11. That toke…

An incomplete late post medieval to modern composite knife. The knife has an iron core with bone and copper alloy handle scales (plates). The scales are fixed to the iron core by three in-situ copper alloy rivets. The blade has broken away next to the bolster so none survives. The bolster itself is copper alloy and decorated with horizontal incised lines. Part of the iron core protrudes from between the handle scales; it is unclear whether this was intentional or caused by corrosion. The handle is an elongated teardrop; the bone panels are incased in copper alloy borders. On one panel…
