A worn and incomplete copper alloy Roman radiate or nummus of an uncertain emperor dating from c. AD 260-402. The coin represents a quarter of the original, having been purposefully cut to its current size in antiquity. The coin is too worn to identify it further. An increasing number of Roman fractions are being recorded. Similarly treated coins are shown in Casey & Reece (1988) pl.1; no.9 which is a cut quarter of Tacitus and no.10 which is a coin of Postumus scored into quarters.
