A complete but worn copper alloy 'three circles' type jetton of Tournai, dating to the reign of Louis XI (1461-83) or Charles VIII (1483-1497). The obverse depicts three circles each containing a quatrefoil; in each angle is a fleur de lis. The legends are hard to decipher - they may have a religious or nationalistic motto or be nonsensical. The reverse depicts a broad ended cross pattee with a flower in each angle. Mitchener (1988: 211) no. 607.

A complete but worn copper alloy jetton piedfort of the Tournai three circles type dating to C AD 1497-1521. The legend on the obverse is mostly illegible but the last word appears to be MARIA. The reverse depicts a broad ended cross patty with a flower in each angle. The legend here is difficult to decipher and may be nonsensical, although may be a variation on IIIATER DEI IIIEIIIEIITO IIIEI (MATER DEI MEMENTO MEI - Mother of God remember me) or something similar. cf. A complete copper alloy medieval French 'Crown' jetton struck during the reign of Charles VII (AD 1422-1461) of France, with the religious legend on the obverse: AVE.MARIA.GRASIA.P ('Hail Mary full of grace'). The are letters across the band of teh crown, mostly obscured by wear, but possibly ' M A[VE]'. This jetton is not listed in Mitchiner but is similar to cf. Mitchiner 1988 no. 539. Struck at Tournai between AD 1422-1437. The jetton has been pierced at 10 o'clock on the obverse.

A complete copper-alloy post-medieval French jetton issued under the reigns of Charles V to Charles VI (AD 1373 - 1415). A "Dolphin" type with an obverse inscription LE NOBLE ET FIER POI ("Noble and proud fish"). Mitchener, Volume I, page 183- 184. Similar to nos 482 to 487. The jetton has a small chip on one edge but is otherwise complete. Frank Basford notes in database record IOW- 23EA71 for a similar jetton that "According to Mitchiner (ibid: 182), 'The dolphin ('dauphin') was [the] traditional badge of the Counts of Alban, Dauphins of Viennois'.
