The entire sherd measures 28.40mm in length, 26.83mm in width, 10.12mm in thickness, and 10.22g in weight. This sherd is of possible Early Medieval date, c.5th-7th centuries AD, although a later date range in the early stages of the Medieval period cannot be ruled out entirely.

An incomplete copper-alloy and enamelled plate brooch of Roman date. It is in the form of a fish or dolphin, missing the pin due to old breaks. The fish has a round head with small projecting mouth or beak decorated on the front face with a small transverse groove. A complete copper-alloy Roman Langton Down brooch of Nertomarus type, c.25-65 AD. The spring casing is cylindrical in form and holds in place a spring and copper-alloy pin that tapers to a sharp point, partially bent due to post-depositional damage. The casing itself has decoration comprising double vertical grooves at each end and along its upper edge.
