Object type: BLADE
Broad period: NEOLITHIC
County: Bedford

A lightly patinated flint blade struck from a dark brown flint. It has a prominent bulb of percussion and parallel flake scars on the dorsal face. The edges have limited retouch that is unpatinated suggesting re-use of the blade at a later date than its original manufacture. It measures 63.76mm in length, 26.77mm in width, 12.80mm in thickness and 18.30g in weight. This blade is of probable Neolithic date (c.3500-2100 BC), the retouch indicative of later re-use, probably in the Bronze Age or Iron Age (c.2150-1 BC).
