2009 T97. Description: A gold, circular-sectioned wire ring, now bent out of shape. When placed on a surface it is slightly undulating but essentially flat. Discussion: This object could represent the misshapen remains of a bent, V-shaped finger ring of a type which is rare but known from the Iron Age. The closest parallel would be a ring from Park Brow, Sompting, West Sussex, dating from 400-200 BC. However, because of the distorted nature of the object it is impossible to be certain of this identification. Compare two certain examples of V-shaped middle Iron Age finger-rings a…

Treasure case 2008 T778: Gold posy ring A thin gold band, rounded on exterior, inscribed inside in lower case: 'When this you see remember mee'. The lettering style is one that continues into the 18th century and in the absence of a maker's mark there is not enough evidence to confirm that this is more than 300 years old. As the ring can not be securely dated to pre-1709 it falls outside the provisions of the Treasure Act 1996.
