A fragment of a silver denarius of Vespasian c. 69 - 79 AD. The obverse with the laureate head right, reverse unclear with a letter 'O'. The coin is incomplete, missing around 25% of the flan. The surface is disrupted with a grey to purpling patina, as if having been in a fire. Dimensions. Diameter 16.05mm and 2.37 thick, it weighs 1.4gm.

A copper alloy Roman coin, possibly of Vespasian, Rome Mint datin to c. AD 71. Reece Period 4. Obverse has laureate head right and the Reverse has a probable Altar with two doors and S-C in fields. The coin is very worn on the reverse and has a mid to dark green patina with ferrous staining.

This is a Roman silver denarius of Vespasian (AD69-79). The obverse has the laureate head right and the reverse has Vesta seated left, holding simpulum. The coin may be related to RSC 358 and thus dated to AD 71. Athough worn with much of the obverse legend missing, the coin retains a goood silver finish.
