A worn silver Roman denarius, probably of Severus Alexander (AD 222-235), dating to the period c.AD 228-231 (Reece period 11). Probably VIRTVS AVG reverse type depicting Severus Alexander standing left, foot on helmet, holding globe and reversed spear. Mint of Rome. cf. RIC IV.2, p. 87, no. 226.
Diameter: 17.72 mm; Weight: 1.61g; DA: 12. The coin is heavily corroded, with a dull grey patina.

An incomplete silver denarius of Severus Alexander c. 222 - 235 AD. Reece Period 11. The coin has lost close to 70 percent of the original but that which is left, has clear indications for Severus Alexander. The obverse has the laureate, draped and cuirassed bust right and the reverse has Jupiter standing front, head right, naked but for cape flowing out to right.

A Roman base silver or coated copper alloy Denarius of Severus Alexander, c. 226 AD. Reece Period 11. The obverse has - Laureate, draped bust right, with the reverse depicting - Severus Alexander standing left, sacrificing over altar. The coin is struck on an irregular flan with copper alloy eruptions on the surface.

A copper alloy Roman coin with extensive wear and degradation of the identifiable marks. The obverse has a portrait head not dissimilar to Severus Alexander (AD222 – AD235) and the size would indicate that it is a Sestertius. The reverse has a standing figure, possibly Ceres with the initials SC to either side. The coin has the appearance and style of a counterfeit of the period.
