A cast copper alloy, strap fitting, possibly a harness mount in the form of a letter 'C' of indeterminate date c. 100 - 1700 AD. The mount has a 'D' shape profile and the font is in the 'Roman' style that goes back to the 15th century. It is possible that this item is Post Medieval but a Roman origin is also concievable. In 'Armed Batavians', by Johan Nicolay, see page 151 - Fig 4.17 for exampes of Roman harness and belt letters. The back surface has the remnants of three fixing lugs. The surface has a dark green, pitted patina with some ferrous staining to the rear face.

An incomplete cast copper alloy strap fitting, possibly a strap slide, of post-medieval date. The strap fitting is in the form of a seven-section polygon/flower, with a large protruding central knop. The reverse of the strap fitting has the remnants of either the attachment prongs or the rectangular slider, consisting of the two arms, which are integrally cast.
