A triangulate worked flint blade of Neolithic origin (3500-2100BC). The ventral surface has a small bulb of percussion with faint trace of the percussion ripples across the surface. The dorsal side has a single lateral edge/dorsal ridge, running the length of the blade with dorsal scarring along much of its length. The cutting edge is formed on the slightly convex side with direct parallel retouch, some of which looks to have been damaged through the passage of time. The material is a multi coloured (pale cream/brown/red) and partly translucent flint with numerous inclusions of ferr…

A medieval hammered silver penny of Edward I (1272-1307AD). This coin is from the 'new coinage' beginning in 1279AD with the non-voided long cross to the reverse. The obverse has the crowned bust facing with a rose on the chest and no double bar to the 'N', indicative of a class 7a thus further refining the date to 1290 - 1293AD. The reverse has the long cross pattée with three pellets in each angle.

A lead bi-conical spindle whorl of probable medieval to post medieval date. As ever, always difficult to be precise on date with no other evidence, thus it is possible that the date range may go back to the Roman. The whorl is undecorated and has a central hole diameter of 10.15mm. The surface is covered with a pale cream oxidation.

Object type: WEIGHT
Broad period: POST MEDIEVAL
County: Powys
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
A cast lead weight of unusual form but probable post medieval origin. The form is that of a thimble and the pitting to the narrow topmost section is indicative of this having been cast within perhaps a copper alloy thimble. There are neither fixing points nor holes to suggest use other than as a simple weight. The diameter decreases to 12.8mm from 16.37mm. The surface has the typical pale cream patina further discoloured by the reddish soil adhered to the surface.

A copper-alloy Roman nummi of indeterminate ruler but probable late 4th century origin. With no identifiable features beyond a rudimentary bust to the obverse and just the hint of a legend on the reverse, no further ID can be suggested. The condition of the coin is very poor and may therefore be typical of the many contemporary forgeries of that time.

A hefty lump of cast lead of unknown use but most likely a weight, probably dating from the post medieval but an earlier origin can not be ruled out. In form, it resembles wicker basket with a sub oval plan view and the rounded bottom with a central protruding 'handle'. The 'handle' has been drilled through to afford a fixing option. That 'handle section could be seen as the 'tenon' to form a joint with some other material/handle. As for use, it may be a weight; the lower face has numerous surface marks/dents that may indicate use as a form of pestle. It is now covered with the …

The obverse has a yoke and fasces of arrows but the reverse is worn flat with no relief imagery remaining.
