A complete copper-alloy knife handle of Roman date. This piece is an example of the 'hare and hound' series of folding-knife handles, an example of which was found in excavations at Richborough, Kent (Bushe-Fox; 1949; pp.129). Other examples can be seen on the P.A.S database - for example, SF-32AEB7 from Laxfield in Suffolk and NMS-328581 from East Winch in Norfolk. A fragment of a copper-alloy fibula, or 'bow', brooch of 1st century date. The piece consists of the lower part of the bow and the foot section. The bow is of roughly semi-circular section, having a slight ridge down the centre of the upper surface. The width and thickness of the bow taper towards the foot. In the triangle formed between the bow and the catchplate, there are two round protrusions facing each other on the opposite sides. A fragment of a copper-alloy Flat-section, or 'Ribbon-strip', bracelet, similar examples to which have been found in 4th century layers at Bancroft villa (R.J. Williams and R.J. Zeepvat; 1994; pp. 303-4). The surviving length appears to have been deliberately cut in antiquity, both ends being perfectly square and having a patina which extends across the exposed break. Cast into the upper surface is a decorative motif, which consists of a repeated circled dot pattern covering the surface.
