Object type: BIRD FEEDER
Broad period: MEDIEVAL
County: Hertfordshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
A squashed lead food or water trough from a late Medieval to early Post-Medieval bird cage. Several examples of this category of artefact are recorded on the PAS database. The object would originally have been semi-circular in section, with a convex outer face and a flat back. At its base the feeder measures 38.4mm wide by 19.4mm deep. The width increases gradually towards the top. Approximately two thirds of the way up, the sides splay outwards slightly.…

Object type: TANKARD
Broad period: POST MEDIEVAL
County: Hertfordshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
Worn and crude Post-Medieval lead toy tankard; probably a 17-18th century AD date. It is possible, however, that it could just about be a representation of a German stoneware drinking jug of the early 16th century onwards. The tankard narrows a third of a way from the top and the bottom, leaving a swell in the middle. The handle attaches to the top half of the object, and is roughtly circular in shape. It does not appear to have any markings or decorations on it. Measures 13.9mm high, 12.6mm wide, and weighs 1.5g.
