A clipped, pierced post-medieval silver threepence of Elizabeth I (1558-1603). Second coinage (North 1998). Initial mark: eglantine, dated 1574 (on coin). Mint of London. North (1991, 134). It measures 18.9 mm in diameter, 0.7 mm in thickness, and weighs 1.51 g. That this coin was double struck is evident on the obverse. It has been pierced possibly for use as a jewellery item. This appears to have been done through the reverse, just within the inner circle at 1 o'clock, corresponding to about 1 o'clock, also, on the obverse.
