Cast lead spindle whorl of Medieval date (1066-1500 AD). It is circular in plan with a central perforation. The whorl is 19 mm in diameter with a thickness of 5 mm. No evidence of decoration. Light grey patina with pink hue. Weight: 8.9 grams. Recorded at Combermere Abbey Rally in 2008.

Cast lead spindle whorl of Medieval date (1066-1500 AD). Circular in plan with central perforation. The whorl is very worn though a trace of raised decoration can still just be seen on the obverse. The reverse is very worn and pitted and decoration can not be clearly defined. Mid grey in colour. The whorl weighs 21.2 grams. No further measurements where taken at time of recording. Recorded at Combermere Abbey Rally in 2008.

Silver-gilt dress pin, with spherical head made up of two hemispheres with applied filigree circlets and knops, heavily gilt. The pin quadrangular in section and made of silver wire tapering to a point, the upper part flooded with gilding from the head. Bent twice along its length.

Incomplete cast copper alloy Polden Hill type brooch of Early Roman date, c.75-175 AD. The head of the bow is highly humped with no decoration other than two possible grooves running along either edge of the bow. The wings are short, there is a trace of end caps. The brooch is 53 mm in length and bends off to one side half way down the length of its bow. It is in very poor condition. The catchplate and pin are missing. Weight: 12.9 grams. Recorded at Combermere Abbey Rally in 2008.

Fragment of a copper alloy Polden Hill brooch of Early Roman date, c.75-175 AD. Only the head and wings of the bow survive. The bow has a median raised rib which would have originally extended down its full length. Only 25 mm of the original length remains. The wings are tubular and project outwards from either side of the bows head and measure 25 mm across. Each wing has two raised ridges with the closest one to the bow knurled for decoration. The catchplate, pin and foot of the bow are missing. Weight: 6.8 grams. Recorded at Combermere Abbey Rally in 2008.

Cast copper alloy nut crackers of Post-Medieval date, 1500-1800. The crackers consist of two arms which are hinged at the top. The arms project straight from the hinge and then curve into a concave handle giving a length of 96 mm. One of the arms is complete while the other is missing its handle. The arms are decorated with a series of three double raised ridges. Weight: 31.5 grams. Recorded at Combermere Abbey Rally in 2008.

Cast lead hooked tag of Post-Medieval date, 1500-1600 AD. The tag consists of a trefoil shaped plate with three raised bosses. Each boss would originally have contained a central pellet surrounded by four ring and dots. Several of these have now worn away. At the centre of the three bosses sits another raised pellet with three equally spaced lines projecting outwards. The edge of the tag is decorated with rounded knops. Fragment of a cast copper alloy Rosette or Thistle brooch of Early Roman date, c.43 to 100 AD. The brooch consists of a spring which is held within an open cylindrical cover. The cover measures 16mm x 7mm and is decorated on the external face with a single linear groove and on each end by an incised cross. From the cover extends the bow of the brooch, this consists of a curved band, 13mm in width and 17mm in length, being c-shaped in profile. A complete cast lead die or gaming piece of possible Post-Medieval date, c.1500-1800. The piece consists of a cube, seemingly of equal widths and lengths. It has six faces, of which three, as represented in the photograph, have been marked with faint incised dots to represent the numerical values of 1, 2 & 4. These have been crudely notched into the surface suggesting the objects use as a die was not its original function. The die is pale grey in colour. Recorded at Combermere Abbey Rally in 2008.
