A cast composite two piece lead/tin alloy button with separate embedded drawn iron wire shank (17th century). The button is discoidal in shape and flat. The decoration is dificult to see but comprises at the very least, two concentric relief circles, with a pattern between. The edge is ragged and flaking, the looped shank is broken and corroded. A good parallel from North Dorset is described in Read's 'Metal Buttons', p.101, no.400.
