A copper alloy ring, possibly a harness ring with an estimated date range of AD 1200-1800. It is an irregular circle construction. The outer part of the ring is 26mm in diameter and the inner part is 17mm and has flat front and back edges but both outer and inner edges are bevelled to almost a point. The coin has a very slight bend and is not uniform in shape missing some of the legend.

A cast copper alloy possibly tinned double loop spectacle buckle of around 1550-1650AD. The pin is missing and was likely to be iron as there is evidence of iron oxidisation on the pin axis bar and on one side of the buckle face. At one tapered end of the buckle can be seen 4 decorative grooves. A somewhat similar example can be seen in R. Whitehead 1250-1800 No. 367.

A small cast copper alloy buckle plate of possibly 1300-1500AD. The copper alloy strip is folded over and has one rivet towards the end of the plate. A cut away section is at the folded end which would have been the positioning for the pin held in place with the buckle bar through two loops at the same end. The buckle along with the pin is missing. It has a mottled patina surface.

A copper alloy partially gilded strap loop fitting of around the 14th century. It is rectangular in shape and has traces of gilding on both faces and has bevelled edges on those faces. There is a centrally positioned broken round shank measuring 4mm long with a diameter of 3.5mm. It exhibits some patina within corrosion.
For similar examples on this database, see NLM-7CF035, NARC-FE561A and BH-ED2C6B. Note the similar fitting in Egan and Pritchard 1991, pp. 232, Fig.147, No.1239.

A cast copper alloy button convex in shape with a rectangular tapered holed shank of 7mm in length which has evidence of iron oxidisation, It presents a six sided star engraved centrally with joined annulets around the edge of these. In the middle of the star are two crescents and three slightly larger annulets.Between 5 of the star points it exhibits crescents and between 2 star points there is a larger annulet. The buckle is D-shaped with a narrowed and offset strap bar. The main shaft of the pin is missing but the pin remains and is looped round the bar.

The buckle is trapezoidal with the pin partially missing. It exhibits a trefoil shape at the end with a notch centred for the pin. The underside is completely flat.

A Post-Medieval copper alloy Rose/Orb Nuremberg jetton, from the period 1515-1559, by master George Schultes.
Obverse: GEORG SCHVLTES IN NVRBERG; three crowns alternating with three lis, arranged centrifugally around a central rose
Reverse: Unsure of inscription; Imperial orb surmounted by cross within a three-arched tressure.
The jetton has suffered a bend over a quarter of its area and has a nice even patina.
Measurements: 24 mm in diameter, 1 mm in thickness and 1.3 g in weight.

A copper alloy incomplete buckle plate section from a date roughly 1250-1450 AD.
It is rectangular in shape with holes in each corner and one in the centre of the plate. Two holes still contain the rivets that are 3 and 4 mm respectively in length. At one end there are two partial loops which would of had the underside plate attached. Within these loops would have sat the bar of the actual buckle and the pin would have been wrapped round that bar between the two loops. A similar record can be found at NLM-D996BB. See also No.211 in Whitehead (2003).

A copper alloy rectangular horse harness pendant which is blank on both sides dating from between 1200 and 1450 AD. The suspension loop is shouldered to the plate and is 17mm long with a 2mm hole on the broader tip of the loop. It appears with a slight split on one end and slight buckle on the other. A Post medieval copper alloy Late 15th to 16th century button. The button is cast in one piece with an integral undrilled shank. It is biconvex in shape with a centril pellet nd a short stem and looped shank. The button shows signs of gilding where the loop attaches to the many body.

A possible copper alloy Awl of uncertain date. The Awl tapers from the blunt end at 3.5mm to a fine point at 1.3mm and is formed square although it does have a slight twist in its length. It has a bend, possibly meant in its construction along two thirds of its length. Similar to other awls on this site. The find has been given a wide date, but the square section of the awl suggests a probable later date.

A crudely made lead-alloy die of uncertain date. The die is cuboid in shape with square even sides. It has random numbered small holes in each side ranging from 1 to 11.
The die could be Roman, although a medieval date cannot be ruled out. Egan (1997, 1) notes that dice with irregular arrangements seem to be most common between the 13th and 16th centuries. This die has developed a white patina.

A Roman, copper alloy zoomorphic (horse) brooch, facing right. The object is sub-rectangular in plan with a sub rectangular protrusion which forms the head of the horse and four lower, small protrusions which represent limbs. The head of the horse is finely molded with an ear, eye and muzzle. The body of the horse is decorated with12 circular depressions on the surface which would once have contained enamel settings. Fragment of Bronze Age Socketed Spear. The fragment has a central oval socket with breaks at both ends. One end is broken away in to the centre of the rim. It is trapezoid in plan with an oval mid rib. Approx 25mm from the tip end.Its widest end is 28mm and tapers to 16.4mm and the tip end socket width is 6mm. A similar example can be seen on the database in the Burnham hoard: ESS-A2E203. c. 1000-800 BC.

An incomplete Post Medieval copper alloy double loop trapezoidal buckle c.1620-1680 AD. The buckle frame has molded decoration on the loops in the form of ovoid knops on the corners of the frame a looped protrusion on either end of the strap bar. The pin is still in place on the integral strap bar. The buckle is 40.0mm long, 27.8mm wide, 2.6mm thick and weighs 6.7 grams. A similar example can be seen in Whitehead page 83 figure 522.

An incomplete copper-alloy Hod Hill brooch of Roman (1st century) date. The head is complete with the cylindrical axis bar, the pin is missing. The wider part of the bow is rectangular, its upper surface decorated by four vertical ridges, separated by deep, wide grooves. Both side lugs have been broken off by an old break. The foot remains but is very worn; part of the catch plate visible on the reverse. The brooch is 21.2mm long, 13.0mm wide, 3.2mm thick and weighs 1.9 grams. A similar example can be seen in Hattat's visual catalog, page 322.

On the upper face the cup is delineated from the nut by a transverse step.The upper surface of the cup is decorated with cross-hatching. The reverse has two integral lugs. Similar examples can be found illustrated illustrated in Read (2001, 29, 37; refs. 331-334).
The mount is 39.2mm long, 21.3mm wide, 1.8mm thick and weighs 6.1 grams.
