Late Bronze Age bronze socketed axe of Southern English ribbed type, Class B (Type Welby) and of Ewart Park metalworking tradition, corresponding to Needham's (1996) Period 7, c. 950 - 750BC. The axe-head is complete, with an overall length of 105.4mm and a weight of 344.0g. The mouth of the axe is sub-rectangular, with internal dimensions of 31.1mm (depth) by 25.9mm (width). The sub-triangular socket has a depth of 75.4mm. No casting stubs are evident on the mouth but there are broken areas above each face, where the casting stubs may have been removed. Late Iron Age to early Roman copper-alloy bow brooch of Langton Down Type and dating to the 1st century AD The brooch is incomplete and is represented by the head and upper bow only with a surviving length of 23.4mm and a weight of 8.3g. Fragment of copper alloy sheet, openwork decorative mount. The curvilinear mount it broken across its two rebated fixing holes and its other extreme. The upper surface of the mount is decorated with an incised design consisting of three infilled three-sided curvilinear panels. Dimensions 35.1 x 25.8 x 1.5mm weighing 4.9g. The two fixing holes (diameter c.2.5mm) are surrounded by circular rebatements (diameter c.7mm) which accommodated the heads of the fixing studs or rivets. Copper-alloy mini terret dating to the late Iron Age to early Roman period. External diameter 19mm-20mm, internal diameter 10mm-11mm, thickness 3-4.5mm, maximum width of connecting bar 5mm, weight 4.6g. Thicker at pseudo-terminals. no evidence for wear facets; surface slightly pitted and abraded (probably corrosion and modern cleaning). Plano-convex in cross section i.e not cast in the round. A one piece casting. Ring slightly widens towards terminal. Not a symmetrical casting.
