Medieval copper alloy harness pendant, probably of late 13th or 14th century date The harness pendant is near-complete, missing only the top of the loop, but has very poor surface preservation. The pendant has a surviving length of 39.06mm and has a weight of 4.8g. The loop has a surviving depth of 5.53mm. The pendant is shield-shaped with small traces of enamel surviving. There is the suggestion of a diagonal strip across the shield (bend), within the strip a small amount of red enamel (Gules) survives. Roman copper alloy key handle of mid 2nd to 5th century date The handle is incomplete, missing the top of the loop and the base of the socket, with a surviving length of 52.2mm and a weight of 41.8g. The handle would have comprised three oval or pear-shaped loops and has a maximum width of 35.5mm. Projection remnants at each side, may suggest flanking leaves that have been lost. Iron vessel escutcheon of uncertain date The escutcheon is near-complete and comprises a plate and integral loop, and has an overall surviving length of 101.4mm and weighs 55.0g. The plate gradually thins towards its base (2.5mm – 6.9mm) and has a convex profile suggesting it was attached to curved vessel, such as a cauldron. Roman copper alloy bow brooch of Colchester derivative, Polden Hill type (Mackreth 2011, Part 3, Group 2.b2, sprung pin, flat wing ends type) and of 1st century AD date. The brooch is incomplete, missing the spring and leg, with a surviving length of 26.38mm and weighs 9.1g. The spring was secured with a Polden Hill type arrangement and the chord was tensioned by a lug on the head. The wings have a width of 28.82mm. Roman copper alloy bow brooch of uncertain type. The brooch is fragmentary and is represented by the head and upper bow only, with a surviving length of 17.12mm and weighs 3.g. The brooch employed a copper alloy spring mechanism, probably secured by a Polden Hill type arrangement. The wings are eroded and have a surviving width of 17.99mm. The bow has a width at the head of 8.07mm and is of oval section. No decoration survives on the poorly-preserved surface of the brooch which has recently been coated in a wax.
