Late Iron Age to early Roman copper alloy bow brooch of Colchester one-piece type, dating to the 1st century AD
The brooch is near-complete, missing the catch-plate, but has very poor surface preservation. The brooch has a length of 46.44mm and has a weight of 6.1g. The spring survives, but has broken on the outer coil. The spring has a width of 14.66mm and coils three times each side of the centre. The spring diameter is considerably wider on the pin side, than the other (7.6mm diameter compared to 5.1mm diameter). The chord is anchored at the head by a tapering forward-facing hook. …

Roman copper alloy vessel or furniture leg The leg is complete and has a length of 64.3mm and a weight of 15.7g. The top of the leg has an L-shaped bracket (with a length of 11.2mm and a width of 5.3mm) to support a vessel above. Remnants of a white adhesive or solder are discernible on the surfaces of the bracket. The leg is of sub-lozenge section and has an undulating curve to the foot. Medieval lead alloy strap-end, probably of late 14th or 15th century date
The strap-end is of hollow-ended type, with a cast front plate and sheet back plate. The sheet back plate has been lost. The strap-end has an overall length of 51.5mm, a maximum width at the attachment edge of 26.3mm and a weight of 13.6g. The strap was secured within a trapezoidal box with converging sides (19.7mm x 18.1mm, internal dimensions) by four copper alloy rivet, two of which remain in-situ. The handle is incomplete and is broken at one end, with a surviving length of 76.2mm and has a weight of 77.0g. The handle is deeply curved and is of lozenge section, with a thickness at the break of 9.1mm and a width of 7.4mm. At the top of the handle are zoomorphic figures, comprising a bird and horse.
