Roman copper alloy plate disc brooch of 2nd century AD date
The brooch is near complete, missing only the pin and peripheral lugs. The brooch is flat and had eight peripheral lugs, with a surviving maximum width of 22.50mm and weighs 3.4g. The brooch would have employed an open spring mechanism, secured by pierced lugs on the reverse. The eroded catch plate gives the brooch a surviving depth of 4.96mm.
